Efficient testing of power electronics

Where high-tech meets the mountains, only large glass windows separate the modern spaces of the location in Holzkirchen from the idyllic Upper Bavarian landscape. Wolfgang Henner, section head for testing technology, is standing in the high-voltage lab and operating a compact testing cabinet called a High-Voltage Lab Rig (HVLR). The rising demand for electric vehicles has led to an increase in the time and effort spent on developing and testing components in the high-voltage system of vehicles, which is why Henner and his team have developed the HVLR. “The system makes the testing of power electronics easier by combining all of the necessary components in one integrated solution,” says Jonathan Böttger, responsible for technical sales.

The HVLR is mainly made up of a high-voltage power supply and the "high-voltage safety box", which ensures safe working conditions on the high-voltage circuit up to 1200 volts. This facilitates the fast, safe, and efficient testing of high-voltage components in the development lab.

The HVLR can also be flexibly expanded using the 19-inch technology to include a capacitor bank, an inductive dummy load, or other customer-specific elements, for example.
